Why I’ve Been Quiet

Hi everyone,

As I’m about to write another blog post, I thought it was a good idea to drop a quick line up on here to explain my recent absence from my blog. I’d been trying to post every couple of weeks, to a 3 month absence is a bit noticeable.

Firstly, in December, I participated in a white collar boxing match, for charity. This was through an organisation called Ultra White Collar Boxing (UWCB) and was in aide of Cancer Research UK. I know the question you’re going to ask, so I’ll answer it here, no, I didn’t win. It was a hard fight, and I did all 3 rounds, but lost on points.

That loss isn’t a defeat, in my eyes. A year before the fight I could barely feed and wash myself after my accident. I got in the best shape I’ve been in for years, raised money for a great cause, ticked something off my bucket list, went the distance, and made some good friends. I also rekindled my love for competitive fighting, and intend on fighting again this year. I’ve not decided the discipline yet, I may continue with Boxing, I may move into Kickboxing, and I am also considering Mixed Martial Arts. My Jujitsu training will recommence again shortly too.

A quick “thank you” over to Aaron at Motivation Fitness Group and Vic at Vic’s Boxing Gym for all their support and help.

Something I am going to say, and it sounds like the usual New-Year-New-Me BS, but it’s really not. When I came off my bike, I thought I’d never fight or train again. That broke my heart. If you want to do something, do it now. Don’t make excuses, don’t procrastinate. Get it done. If you want to climb into the ring go and find your nearest boxing gym and talk to them. Googling things with the best intentions will get you nowhere, get out there, find someone to motivate you, to train you, and make yourself better.

So, onto the other reason I’ve been quiet. Work’s been busy, really busy. Since I rejoined the team at Speed in April we’ve grown from a 5, to a 7 man team. We’ve embarked upon, and completed, some really exciting projects, with some huge international clients (who I’m not at liberty to name, unfortunately).

Ultimately, all of that has meant that I’ve not had a huge amount of time, so putting content up for my blog has kind of been moved down the priority list.

Anyway, I’ll be posting again soon. Happy New Year!

Johno
